A graduate of the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic with a doctor of chiropractic degree, Steven Rigler has more than three decades of experience in treating common injuries and spinal conditions. Strongly interested in how technology can improve and support patient care, Steven Rigler also provides guidance on how diet can affect inflammation and pain in chiropractic patients.

Because pain is typically a result of inflammation in the body, a shift in diet can achieve noticeable results in pain levels. To decrease inflammation, incorporate these foods into your diet:

1. Coldwater fish. Fish such as salmon, mackerel, and tuna contain omega 3 fatty acids, which improve blood flow and decrease inflammation in blood vessels and nerves.

2. Leafy green vegetables. High in vitamins A and C, these antioxidant-rich foods repair the body at a cellular level, and contain powerful anti-inflammatory flavonoids.

3. Turmeric. The active ingredient curcumin can help reduce inflammation in joints and protects the body from tissue damage.

In addition to adding anti-inflammatory foods to your diet, avoid foods high in refined carbohydrates and sugars.
